The "Development of a Restoration Plan" project, led by IEDIH (Initiative pour un Environnement et le Développement Intégré en Haïti / Initiative for an Environment and Integrated Development in Haiti) with the support of the Haitian Biodiversity Fund (FHB), specifically focuses on the ecological restoration of the mangrove ecosystem within the Baradères-Cayemites Marine Protected Area (MPA).

Transplantation in Petit-Trou-de-Nippes
Overexploitation for charcoal production and construction materials severely weakens the mangrove fringes. Field analyses conducted by IEDIH highlight the urgent need to act against habitat loss and coastal erosion, which directly threaten the economy and security of coastal communities.

Transplantation in Baradères
The Baradères-Cayemites complex is home to one of the most significant mangrove reserves in the Nippes and Grand'Anse regions. Through this restoration plan, IEDIH is committed to reversing the degradation trend of these unique coastal forests, which are vital for marine biodiversity and the protection of Haitian coastlines.

Corail Nursery (Pépinière Corail)
The action plan is moving into its operational phase: rigorous selection of nursery sites and the collection of propagules (mangrove seeds). By reintroducing adapted local species, IEDIH brings degraded areas back to life and actively restores the ecological functions of the mangrove ecosystem.

Beekeeping in Petit-Trou-de-Nippes
In Petit-Trou-de-Nippes, apiculture (beekeeping) stands out as a sustainable solution at the heart of IEDIH's restoration plan. By setting up apiaries near the marine fringes, we directly link the survival of the mangrove forest to the creation of a green, income-generating economy for local families.

Fishing Kit Distribution
Because the success of conservation depends entirely on local involvement, IEDIH places community dialogue at the core of its approach. Participatory workshops allow management strategies to be co-constructed alongside fishermen, farmers, and local leaders to ensure the long-term sustainability of the plan.

Canal Construction in Petit-Trou-de-Nippes
The construction of canals and drainage structures constitutes a major infrastructural pillar of IEDIH's plan. This network effectively channels runoff water and regulates freshwater flows into the Marine Protected Area, which is a key factor for the survival and ecological balance of the surrounding mangrove.
